If you’re having problems with your lawn care or cleaning company, ask yourself this one question: is negativity a roadblock to your success?
“You don’t deserve to make $150,000 a year.”
“Nobody is going to read your marketing letters, you’re wasting your money.”
“Starting your own lawn care business is too risky. Don’t even try.”
Everybody has their own opinion on how you should live your life. Maybe the opinions of others are bringing you down – or maybe it’s your own inner voice holding you back.
“Think Yourself” to the Next Level
A single drop of water in the dirt doesn’t get too far. It makes a small trail, maybe, and disappears. But if you pour another drop of water, and another, and another down that same trail, eventually you’re going to have a stream of water, all heading in one direction.
Negativity is like drops of water in the dirt. Every time you tell yourself something negative, it becomes that much easier to believe it. If all you do is tell yourself, “I can’t do it. This is going to be too hard. I’ll probably fail,” you are more likely to not even try.
I’m not saying you have to be the kind of person who posts motivational quotes and self-affirmations on Facebook everyday, however, what you tell yourself is critically important to your business. If you don’t think you have the power to grow your business, chances are you’re not going to try as hard.
Motivation Leads to Action
It’s important to remember that motivation is only temporary. It has a very important place, though. A powerfully inspirational quote can get you just excited enough to start improving your business, or a really compelling video can help you get pumped to write that new door hanger you’ve always wanted to put out.
Find something that you can rely on every week. Maybe it’s a book about how to build a profitable cleaning business. Maybe it’s the Lawn Care Millionaire YouTube channel. Maybe something as simple as a twitter feed that posts inspiration for small businesses.
More Positive or Less Negative?
“If you have to choose between to improving your positivity, or removing the negative people from your life, which should you choose?”
“Stop the bleeding.”
Hands down, it’s more important to remove negative people from your life. They say you will become a mixture of your five closest people. Maybe that’s true; maybe it isn’t. What IS true is that the people you see and talk to every day have a huge impact on your life.
- If your friends are wasting too much time lying around and not doing anything with their lives, you might need to cut them out of your life.
- If your employees are constantly negative, they’re draining you and they’re draining your company.
- If the news every morning is making you angry, stop watching it and read a blog on improving your business.
Cut that negative garbage out of your life. It will make room for all the good productivity that will help your business grow.
If someone is giving you advice and telling you that you can’t run your own business, or that you won’t ever make the money you want to make – don’t listen. Ask yourself: did this person fail and quit? Why would you ever take advice from someone who is less successful, less driven, and more negative than you?
Take the risks you need to. Work on the things you want to. Take out the trash, and make room for the positive things that will arise out of your hard work and dedication.
If you can’t bet on yourself, whom can you bet on?
