Jonathan Pototschnik’s 11 Best Lawn Care Marketing Tips

Sometimes… you need marketing ideas from someone who has already “figured it out.”

You don’t have time to read $100,000 worth of marketing resources (or attend all those conferences!)

That’s why we’ve put together a great collection of marketing tips from Service Autopilot’s CEO Jonathan Pototschnik (you might know him as the Lawn Care Millionaire). We’ve also included the source for each quote so you can get the full context (and soak up other great, not-necessarily-related-to-marketing knowledge).

Isn’t it great when someone gives you a pot of gold? You’re welcome.

Jonathan’s 11 Best Marketing Tips

1.“Don’t be afraid of long-form copy. Use the number of words necessary to effectively communicate what you’re trying to say.”

2. “Give your business a small company feel from the very beginning. Make it personal.”

3. “The real purpose of your marketing piece is to get people to contact you. That’s why in most of my marketing pieces I never run the price. It’s not necessary. The only thing I need them to do is contact me. Then, the sales team will take the next step.”

4. “Write to one person. Think of a person and write your marketing copy to them. That’s an effective way to sell.

5. “Being remembered is important, and when you’re seen, you need to be able to be easily differentiated from everyone else in your marketplace.”

6. “The reason that your marketing won’t work, whether it’s direct mail, door hangers, or whatever it is, is because you’re not going after people that can buy your service.”

7. “If you have tons of competition in your market, then there’s a need. That’s the perfect market. Don’t look for a market where there aren’t competitors.”

8. “Look for the market where there’s the most competition because that means there’s huge need.”

9. “Figure out your marketing. Be seen over and over and over again in your marketplace.”

10. “If you’re working in residential, think about who your buyer is. Your buyer is a woman. Women make the buying decisions for the household. All the stats and data prove out that women run the show. They are who you should be thinking about in most cases.”

11.  Our success is based on knowledge. The faster we can learn, the faster we can get where we want to go.” Identify your knowledge gaps in the marketing of your business and fill them. Whether it’s SEO, copywriting, or 9-Arounds and seek out resources to learn about them.

That’s The Cream of the Crop from Jonathan on Marketing

In addition to running several successful businesses, Jonathan has deeply studied marketing by reading countless books, attending industry-specific conferences and working with some of the best minds in the business.

We tried to distill as much of his years and $$$ as we could into one gold-filled post.

Hopefully, this post taught you more than a couple of things and you’ll use that new knowledge to increase profits in your service business.
